Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about electric trikes, shipping, and choosing the right ride for you.

🚲 General E-Trike Questions

Do I need a license to ride an electric trike?

No, you generally do not need a license. In most US states, electric trikes that adhere to federal regulations (under 750W motor and capped at 20 mph) are classified as bicycles. This means you do not need a driver's license, registration, or insurance to ride them. However, we recommend checking your specific local and state laws.

Are electric trikes safe for seniors?

Yes, electric trikes are considered one of the safest options for seniors. Unlike traditional 2-wheel bicycles, trikes have three wheels for superior stability, meaning you don't need to balance them when stopped. Most of our models feature a "Step-Thru" frame, making it easy to get on and off without lifting your leg high, reducing the risk of falls.

How fast do electric trikes go?

Most of our electric trikes are Class 2 e-bikes, meaning they have a top speed of 20 mph (miles per hour) using the throttle or pedal assist. This speed is optimized for safety and stability. Some models may allow for higher speeds, but we recommend sticking to safe speeds, especially when turning.

Can I pedal an electric trike without the motor?

Yes, absolutely. You can ride your electric trike just like a traditional tricycle by pedaling normally. If you get tired or encounter a hill, you can engage the Pedal Assist System (PAS) to boost your pedaling power, or use the Twist Throttle to cruise without pedaling at all.

Is it hard to learn how to ride a 3-wheel bike?

Riding a trike is easy, but it feels different than a 2-wheel bike. The main difference is that you do not lean into turns. Instead, you turn the handlebars to steer, similar to a car. Most riders get used to this sensation within 10-15 minutes of practice in a flat, open area.

🔋 Battery & Range

How long does the battery last on a single charge?

On average, a fully charged battery will provide a range of 30 to 50 miles, depending on the model, rider weight, terrain, and how much you use the throttle versus pedal assist. Using pedal assist extends your range significantly compared to using the throttle alone.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

Most e-trike batteries take between 4 to 6 hours to fully charge from 0% to 100%. The charger plugs into any standard 110V household outlet. You can charge the battery while it is attached to the bike, or remove it to charge indoors.

How many years will the battery last?

Modern Lithium-Ion batteries typically last for 800 to 1,000 charge cycles. For the average rider, this translates to about 3 to 5 years of regular use before the battery capacity begins to noticeably decrease.

📦 Shipping & Assembly

Does the trike arrive fully assembled?

Your trike will arrive 85-90% assembled. You will generally need to attach the front wheel, handlebars, pedals, and sometimes the rear basket. We provide all necessary manuals and basic tools. However, due to the size of the trikes, we highly recommend taking the box to a local bike shop for professional assembly and safety tuning.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! We offer Free Standard Shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. We currently do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or P.O. Boxes due to carrier restrictions on oversized items and lithium batteries.

What is the weight limit for your trikes?

Most of our electric trikes are designed for heavy-duty use and can support a total payload capacity (rider + cargo) of 300 lbs to 400 lbs, depending on the model. Please check the "Specifications" tab on each product page for the exact weight limit.
